Strength Norms Calculator For Powerlifting
Use our calculators to compare your current strength against global powerlifting data.
The original calculator was developed to accompany the normative strength data published by van den Hoek et al (2024). This version allows you to compare your squat, bench press, deadlift, and total against powerlifters of the same sex, age classification, and competitive weight class. It remains available as the article companion calculator.
We have also developed an updated strength norms calculator. This newer version expands the comparison options and allows you to benchmark your lifts against recent OpenPowerlifting-derived data by biological sex, age group, bodyweight band, parent federation group, and selected comparison period. It also includes absolute and relative strength percentiles, lift contribution analysis, and a downloadable PDF report.
You can use these results to benchmark and track your own or your athlete’s scores, support coaching conversations, and better understand how individual lifts contribute to total performance.
Which calculator should I use?
Use the Updated Strength Norms Calculator if you want the most current benchmarking tool, a personalised PDF report, flexible comparison settings, or lift contribution analysis.
Use the Published Article Companion Calculator if you are reading the published article and want to explore the calculator associated with that work.
The original calculator is retained for transparency and to support interpretation of the published research. The updated calculator is recommended for most current users.
